Popeil, the creator of the Voiceworks® Method, the 'Total Singer'
instructional DVD. She has been teaching singing and speech in Los
Angeles (California) for over 30 years. She is on the Scientific
Advisory Board of the Voice Foundation and conducts voice research. She
lectures widely on the mechanisms and pedagogy of commercial and
musical theater vocal styles.

Résumé :
In this workshop, Lisa Popeil will describe and demonstrate several
Amercan vocal styles, such as Pop, Rock, Country, Jazz, R&B,
Classical and Musical Theater Legit and Belting and how each style can
be easily analyzed. Style ingredients include: resonator shaping;
vertical laryngeal height; 3 degrees of pharyngeal constriction;
vibrato types, speeds and quantity; 5 degrees of breath density; 4
types of laryngeal cartilage postures; dialect; stance; emotions; and
stylistic effects.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience singing these
vocal styles and can explore how the understanding of style ingredients
helps create style authenticity.
